Vicky East has announced she will no longer proceed with her intention to stand as a candidate for Rushen in September’s House of Keys General Election.
Ms East cited health and personal circumstances as her reason for withdrawing from the election.
In a statement issued, East said she remained eager to serve the community but could not commit “110%” to voters at this election.
She described the early support she received as both encouraging and a sign that “change is needed,” but said it would not be fair to residents to continue her candidacy without being able to give her full capacity.
East said she still stands by the manifesto she had prepared, stressing that her motivation was never about holding office but “serving the people.”
She thanked those who had offered early encouragement and said she would continue supporting the constituency as a private citizen, as she has done for the past five years.
She added that she hopes to be in a stronger position to stand at the next General Election.
