The independent Election Observation Mission has given its initial conclusion to the running of the House of Keys campaign.
A team of observers, from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, was in the island for the final 10 days of the election run-in.
A spokesperson said: “The mission found the election to be professional and transparent, and the election process was conducted in accordance with Isle of Man laws, international standards and within the relevant legal deadlines.”
It highlighted a difficulty in recruiting deputy returning officers for each constituency, however.
A preliminary statement on the election is due to be issued by the mission this week and this will be followed by a final report with deeper analysis.
Significant Civic Effort
Guernsey Deputy Chris Blin (in the centre of the group picture) was head of the mission.
He said: “I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the efficient running of the elections.
“We saw for ourselves how hard everyone worked to make this election a success. It was a significant shared civic effort, and those involved should rightfully be proud.”
He added: “We witnessed a well organised process, with a real commitment to make it transparent and inclusive.
“We hope our recommendations will be a positive contribution to the Isle of Man.”
