A relative newcomer who has already made a big impression on the local running scene is Elena Caley, who has recently joined Manx Harriers.
Still in the under-20 age group, Elena recorded a highly impressive time of 1:29:04 at the recent Hospice Half Marathon in Ramsey.
She joined Manx Harriers in order to compete as part of their women’s team at the Festival, where she proved to be the leading team member.
Elena finished narrowly ahead of Laura Dickinson in each of the three races, placing 39th overall and third in the U20 category.
An accomplished hockey player, Elena clearly has the potential to develop into a top-class distance runner in the years ahead.
