The chance to immerse yourself in the world of percussion awaits at a fun and interactive family concert later this month.
Energy and excitement is guaranteed when Manx Family Concerts present ‘Rhythms of the World’ in the King’s Court Theatre at King William’s College on Saturday, April 20.

The child-friendly experience will take audiences on a journey across land and sea, exploring the fascinating sounds and versatility of percussion instruments from around the world.
Travelling to six different continents, the vibrant showcase will celebrate the extraordinary depth and breadth of musical possibilities in the world of percussion.

There’ll even be a chance to try out tuned percussion alongside a carousel of other percussion instruments.
Rhythms of the World is the latest in an ever popular series of concerts organised by Manx Family Concerts with support from the Isle of Man Arts Council, creating family-friendly adventures through the realms of music and storytelling.
Heather says the event will be wall-to-wall percussion and fun for the whole family.
‘From chimes to cymbals, triangles to tambourines, maracas to marimbas, there is such a wide array of percussion instruments and ‘Rhythms of the World’ will be the ideal opportunity to explore them all.
‘For example, did you know that there are actually 12 different types of cymbal, each with their own sound and pitch?
‘These performances will really shine the spotlight on the instruments in the percussion family with powerful rhythms, interactive activities and a pulsating energy which is contagious.
‘There will be the chance for everyone to express themselves and get engaged with the music – clapping, singing, dancing and even trying out an instrument or two. There’s no better way than to spend an afternoon of creative quality time with the whole family by playing and listening to music!
Thoroughly enjoyable and inclusive for all, the two concerts are at 1pm and 3pm.
