Erika Kelly and Ollie Lockley were in action in different European capital cities yesterday (May 5) – Kelly in Warsaw and Lockley in Copenhagen.
Sarah Webster writes the following on the Northern AC Facebook page: “While we were busy in Ramsey, Erika Kelly was busy walking in Poland. Erika finished her 20k walk in 19th place in 1:44 which is a season’s best in very warm conditions.
“She walked consistently from start to finish and it is her best performance since 2019. And best of all no red cards! Congratulations Erika. Hopefully an exciting season ahead. Erika is seen on the photo at the start, to the right of the Chinese athletes, in the red top and white cap.”
Erika and Ollie take on Europe
Erika’s fiancé Ollie Lockley finished in 17th place in the Marathon in the Danish capital.
His time of 2:22:48 was very good by most people’s standards, but was not the time Ollie would have been hoping for after going through halfway in 1:07:28.
Ollie wrote on his Instagram page: “Great opportunity to represent England at the Copenhagen Marathon.
“Unfortunately I struggled today, but that can be the nature of the beast. So here’s a nice pre-race photo followed by a death march to the finish. Congratulations to the rest of the team, and thank you everyone for the support!”
