Eve Wins Lancashire Pentathlon

The multi-talented Eve Martin proved what a fine multi-event athlete she is by winning the Lancashire U13 Girls Pentathlon at Stanley Park.

This competition in Blackpool was part of the two-day Lancashire Combined Events Championships 2025.

The Manx Harriers athlete finished second in the 70 metres hurdles with 12.5 seconds, not her best time but she was running into a stiff headwind.

She was the joint winner of the high jump with a new personal best height of 1.39 metres.

In the long jump she was the winner with a distance of 4.24 metres.

New Event For Eve

A new event for Eve this year is the shot put in which she finished sixth with a distance of 5.44 metres, so a new pb.

Finally in the 800 metres, she produced a fantastic run to set a new pb by four seconds with a superb time of 2:24.1.

This is just 0.2 of a second shy of the IOM U13 Girls record held by Macy Hillier.

Eve’s Coach Di Shimell, told David Griffths that Eve was “very nervous before the start of the competition, but once she got going she really enjoyed it”.

Her score over the five events (to be confirmed) is potentially a new Isle of Man U13 Girls record, beating the mark set by Heather Wood back in 1996.

Record Breaking Eve

In addition to her weekend performances in Blackpool, last Wednesday Eve also broke the IOM U13 Girls 200 metres record during the opening IOM Track & Field League match with a time of 27.7 seconds.

This was a wind-legal time as there is now a functional wind gauge at the NSC track.

This beat the time of 27.9 set by Zoe Kennish in 1998.

These are magnificent performances by a young athlete with huge potential for the future. Congratulations Eve!
