Tom Felton‑Smith claimed the Altenar Isle of Man Marathon Championship in Ramsey yesterday, winning in 2:42:51.
Runners set off from Mooragh Promenade in light rain, before conditions cleared on the two‑lap course through Bride, Andreas and St Jude’s.
Visiting athlete Chun Man Tam led early, but Felton‑Smith moved ahead before the Dog Mills section and never relinquished control, despite “hitting the wall” in the closing miles.
He required brief medical attention at the finish but was soon back on his feet.
Marathon Runners
Nhlanhla Fortune Nzama was runner‑up in 2:44:54, having paced his second lap faster than his first, with Tam third in 2:47:09.
Dave Bignell, James Mackie (Wirral AC) and Harry Weatherill completed the top six.
In the women’s marathon, Kat Darby (Tamar Trotters) took victory in 3:26:50, ahead of Carmel Edwards (Kirkby Milers) and Christiana Akingbola (Mornington Chasers).
The leading local, Jayne Farquhar, finished fifth in 3:49:34, knocking nearly three minutes off her course PB on her tenth appearance.
Kirsty Kills It!
There were standout performances in the Half Marathon too. Kirsty Barber (Western AC) dominated the women’s race in 1:25:23, a time bettered by only five women in the event’s history.
Clara Isaac surged late to secure second in 1:29:03, with Annabelle Caton edging Elena Caley for third.
Triathlete Will Draper delivered a commanding win in the men’s Half Marathon, stopping the clock at 1:10:00, more than seven minutes clear and faster than his 2021 victory.
Nick Colbourn took second, with Tim Goldy third after a tight battle among the chasing pack.
