Airport staff are continuing to try and clear the runway at Ronaldsway as early morning flights have been cancelled.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s runway is also closed, leading to cancelled inbound flights too.
So far this morning the Loganair London City flights have been cancelled while easyJet has cancelled its inbound and outbound Liverpool and Manchester flights.
Ronaldsway said: “Due to snow and hard ice, the runway is closed until further notice. de-icing and snow clearance are ongoing, but conditions are unlikely to improve in the coming hours and flights will be disrupted.”
Liverpool Airport is now expected to provide an update around 10am.
The government has said: “Residents scheduled to travel off-Island under the Patient Transfer Service are asked to familiarise themselves with their Travel Warrant, which includes important information and contact details in the event of travel difficulties.”
