Douglas Council has received a bid from three companies to operate a food and drink market with entertainment during this year’s TT.
The proposal from Event Management Solution, Foraging Vinters and Meximann would run through TT in the Bottleneck car park.
The ‘Marketplace of Mann’ event would provide a marketplace for local produce with food and drink available to consume on site alongside a relatively low-key entertainment offer.
The Council’s Environmental Services Committee has determined to support the proposal alongside one from IOM Left Luggage to use four spaces throughout the fortnight.
Event Management Solutions had been approached to consider North Quay instead of the car park but it deemed that location unsuitable
In its meeting report, the committee said: “The event organisers anticipate that the event will boost footfall in Douglas City Centre and create a
focal point linking the Promenade, City Centre and Quayside.
“Event Management Solutions has a relevant track record of delivering events on the island and they are aware of the proposal by IOM Left Luggage and propose incorporating it into their event proposal.”
If other agreements, including licensing, can be reached, it would run from Saturday May 24 until Sunday June 8.
