The Council of Ministers is to consider reinstating free bus travel for all school children.
The proposal, put forward by the Select Committee on Poverty, also suggested reforms to the bus pass system to reduce the impact on families in poverty.
In its response, the government’s said the DoI is currently examining whether free travel for all school children could be implemented.
The move is part of a wider government response to the committee’s report on child poverty, which made 26 recommendations across education and health.
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan said the issues raised in the report “merit exactly that kind of serious, considered and collective response”.
