A fresh Amber weather warning has been issued for snow and ice.
Forecasters at Ronaldsway Met Office said a risk of snow/hail showers will affect the island (mainly central and southern areas) this evening and continuing at times overnight before tending to clear by Thursday morning. This may locally lead to 1-3cm of accumulation for low-levels and a risk of 2-5cm for higher ground especially if showers affect the same area repeatedly.
Ice will be an additional hazard on untreated surfaces with temperatures remaining sub-zero throughout for areas above around 1000 FT.
From 5pm, ice also forming in low-level areas sheltered from the light to moderate N or NW wind especially in places that are damp/wet or become snow covered. Minimum air temperatures falling to -3°C in some areas.

In a similar way to Wednesday morning temperatures only slowly recovering through the day, maximum air temperature in the afternoon of 4°C.
The warning will be in force until 3pm tomorrow (Thursday).
