A GoFundMe page has been created to help support a Manx MGP racer who was injured in this year’s racing.
Chris Moffitt was injured in a crash at Ballacrye in this year’s Junior MGP.
His brother Brian has set up the page to help support Chris as his sick pay comes to an end.
So far the appeal has raised just over £1,300.
Brian said: “After weeks of intensive treatment and rehabilitation, Chris is making progress but faces a long journey ahead, requiring extensive physical and mental therapy, along with visits to a hyperbaric chamber.
“With his sick pay coming to an end soon and over a year needed for recovery, Chris, who is not one to ask for help, now needs our support.
“A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to alleviate his financial stress so he can fully focus on his healing journey.”
Recovery
Sharing the post on his social page, Chris thanked his brother and added that he is “hopeful” of being discharged from hospital early in the new year.
He said: “It’s been 107 days up to now between Nobles Hospital and the Sid Watkins Centre in Liverpool, I’m making progress, but there’s still a long road ahead.
“Unfortunately, my sick pay has ended, and transitioning home will come with significant challenges, including the necessity of using a hyperbaric chamber twice a week to aid my bones and brain healing, along with physio therapy I am hopeful of a full recovery.
“Given that I won’t be able to work for some time, the financial strain on myself and family is substantial, and while we’re not accustomed to asking for help, I truly appreciate any support that can help during my recovery.
“I am thankful and grateful to everyone who has donated I will keep you all updated with my recovery.”
