Manx Care and GNAAS have agreed a new contract that will see continuation of the service for a further 12 months.
The service will be funded based on a per mission costing with GNAAS committing to strengthening its fundraising activities on the island.
As a result, taxpayers will be paying for the year’s contract while also being asked to support the charity’s fundraising efforts.
While the charity says it is grateful for the support it receives from islanders, its current fundraising means would mean it could not continue to operate on the island without taxpayer funding.
Manx Care’s CEO, Teresa Cope, said: “We are pleased that, in conjunction with GNAAS, we have been able to find a solution to sustain this vital partnership to benefit the Manx community and deliver transparency of costs and value for money.
“We look forward to working with them closely in conjunction with our fixed wing air ambulance service and HM Coastguard resource.”
GNAAS CEO, Joe Garcia, said: “We are delighted at the continuation of this partnership to support the people of the Isle of Man.”
