Manx BirdLife says its purchase of the Castletown Golf Links Hotel strengthens it’s commitment to safeguarding the island’s wild bird habitats
It was announced today (April 1) the former Castletown Golf Links Hotel and associated parcels of land had been bought by Manx Bird Life and Langness Golf Course Limited.
The purchase now allows the charity to manage land at both the northern and southern tips of the Isle of Man

Manx BirdLife has secured over 60 acres of grassland, coastal heath, and saltmarsh to be managed for nature in perpetuity.
The Langness Peninsula is one of the Isle of Man’s most important areas for breeding, migrating, and wintering birds.
Manx BirdLife said: “We’re excited to ensure that this special place remains protected and continues to thrive, alongside the neighbouring Castletown Golf Links, which is also managed with nature conservation in mind.
“Our long-term vision is to make Langness an example of how both nature and people can coexist and benefit from sustainable management.”

It added: “We’re eager to start work on this exciting project, with consultations and ecological surveys planned to create a holistic management plan.
“We’ll also be working with the local community to ensure that everyone can enjoy Langness while protecting its natural beauty.”
