A recent charity golf day, sponsored by homebuilder Dandara, brought together golfers from across the island in order to raise vital funds for an initiative supporting families affected by brain tumours.
Hosted at Peel Golf Club last month, the event saw 15 teams take to the course for a shotgun start.
Players competed for a host of prizes, all while raising money for Naseem’s Manx Brain Tumour Charity, an organisation established in memory of island resident Naseem Pishvaie.
Founded in 2009, the charity provides practical and financial assistance to Manx families who have experienced the devastating impact of a brain tumour, as well as driving awareness and research in the field.
Dandara: “Proud to have Got Involved”
Dandara Managing Director, Austin McGuire, was among those participating, heading up a team from the developer.
McGuire said: ‘We were delighted to sponsor the golf day and to have a team from Dandara taking part.
“It really was an enjoyable day with a great atmosphere on the course and some excellent golf, but most importantly it was all about supporting Naseem’s Manx Brain Tumour Charity and the vital work it does across our community.”
He added: “We’re proud to have got involved and would like to thank everyone who took part, donated prizes and helped make the day such a success.”
Small Charity, Big Impact
Charity Founder Gerry Pishvaie added: “We are a small, entirely volunteer-run charity dedicated to supporting local people and families affected by brain tumours, during what can be an incredibly difficult and uncertain time.
“Events such as the Dandara-sponsored Golf Day mean so much to us because the money raised stays here in our community, and goes directly towards helping local families when they need it most.”
She continued: “We’re incredibly grateful to Dandara, everyone who took part and those who worked behind the scenes to make the golf day so special.”
