The Governor Sir John Lorimer and Lady Lorimer joined in with the Fire and Rescue Service for an exercise at Government House.
The exercise was an opportunity to develop an operational response plan for the building in case of an emergency.
The team practiced positioning the 42-metre articulated turntable ladder (TTL) and assessed access points around the historic site.
The 42-metre TTL, which became operational earlier this year after being manufactured in Ulm, Germany, is the second of its kind in the fleet.
Fire Service Exercise
The ladder is used for rescuing people from hard-to-reach places, serving as a water tower for large-scale fires, and acting as an observation post to enhance situational awareness during incidents.
It has a full colour and thermal image camera at the head of the ladder which can relay live footage back to a command vehicle.
The TTL is also frequently used by partner agencies, including the Isle of Man Constabulary.
The visit, by Green Watch, was part of the FRS’s preparedness work, where crews visit certain building types to document and develop tactical firefighting plans in case of emergencies.
