Chief Minister Alf Cannan has confirmed the Isle of Man’s close collaboration with UK cybersecurity experts to prevent major cyber attacks.
The assurance came during a Tynwald exchange with Jason Moorhouse who asked what plans are in place to deal with a cyber attack and whether support will be available from the UK.
Mr Cannan said: “Cyber attacks can take many forms, and indeed, I should point out that in some cases, a systems failure or human error can be just as catastrophic as a malicious attack.”
He detailed mandatory business continuity plans for all public bodies and highlighted cooperation with the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
The Chief Minister also confirmed that “all government data is properly and fully backed up, and there are reserve systems”.
