The government has welcomed the indefinite extension of the Middle East ceasefire, expressing hope that the progress will provide greater stability for diplomatic efforts.
However, it acknowledged that the situation remains fragile and could have wider economic impacts.
“Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the conflict, including those with family, cultural or economic ties to the region, and civilians facing ongoing insecurity and humanitarian need,” a government spokesperson said.
Officials are liaising with industry and charity representatives to inform potential ministerial action.
the Treasury Minister told Tynwald on Tuesday, that if intervention is required, responses will be “precise, targeted and evidence based, aligned with broader economic and anti-poverty strategies”, though this was challenged by MHKs.
The government has alsomoved to reassure the public over fuel supplies, adding: “Petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and home heating oil continue to be delivered as normal, and local suppliers remain confident in supply arrangements.”
