A hustings was held last night for the residents of Ramsey to meet the candidates who are standing in the upcoming election.
Seven of the eight prospective candidates were in attendance and a Q&A session covered public toilets, community facilities, improving the town centre and flood defences.
Tomorrow’s election is the first for Ramsey in nearly a decade and will give the commissioners a public mandate for the next four years.
Hustings
Each candidate was given four minutes at the beginning to set out their manifesto before the floor was opened to the residents for questions.
Emma Honey, Pauline Johns-Garrett, Juan McGuinness, Andi Nolan, Elizabeth Shimmin, Margaret Webb and Wilf Young were all in attendance – whilst apologies were given on behalf of Katrina Netelat.
Other issues raised at the hustings was the potential South Beach development, offshore windfarms and the Ramsey Sprint and Sprintfest.

Both Ramsey MHKs, Dr Alex Allinson and Lawrie Hooper, were at the meeting along with current board members and members of other local authorities.
