Castletown Town Commissioners says residents who are falling behind with rents should contact them to work out a way forward.
It was responding to an article on Manx.News that highlighted the total rent arrears across the island.
Between all housing authorities, the anticipated annual income for the financial year is £34,163,501, of which, as of quarter two, £878,491.19 was in arrears.
Castletown’s own arrears for this year is £77,139.56 from its estimated income of £1,349,210.
The authority said: “This news piece highlights the challenges we, along with other housing providers, currently face regarding rent arrears.
“The Commissioners continue to take action against non-payment, as unpaid rent directly impacts maintenance and essential services, leading to delayed repairs and deferred improvements.
“If you’re experiencing financial difficulties, don’t struggle in silence, please talk to your housing provider as soon as possible.”
