Inflations falls for three consecutive months

Inflation on the Isle of Man has fallen for the third consecutive month.

Statistics Isle of Man says inflation stood at 4.4% in January – that’s a decrease of 0.8% on the previous month December 2023.

‘Alcoholic beverages and tobacco’ exhibits the biggest increase, having risen 11.8% compared with 12 months ago. ‘Tobacco’ has seen the biggest increase in this category (15.0%).

The second biggest increase is Restaurants and hotels’ , having risen 10.9% compared with 12 months ago. ‘Wines & spirits on sales’ (wines and spirits sold on licensed premises), has seen the biggest increase in this category (20.7%)

The third biggest contributor to the rate of inflation was ‘Recreation and culture’, which shows a rise of 7.2%
