When thinking of sport, shearing isn’t necessarily the first thing that springs to mind, but let me tell you, it isn’t for the faint hearted.
On May 25, at the Guilcagh Farm in Andreas, shearing competitions will be brought back to life, as this is the first international shearing competition to be held on the Isle of Man in several years.
Manx.News caught up with event organisers James Radcliffe and Phillip ‘Puppy’ Christian:

Puppy as humble as ever told us about the event, but in his own right is one hell of an accomplished shearer, as well as quite the busy farmer.
Last year, he competed across the United Kingdom in shearing competitions, including at the World Championships that were held at the Highland Show.
A lot of work has gone into resurrecting the event, as well as gaining sponsors who have generously donated prizes.

Rumour has it there may also be a party afterwards… farmers hey, any excuse for a beer! (I’m all for it).
