Isle of Play Aims to ‘future proof’

Isle of Play has submitted plans to extend its facilities into a neighbouring paddock at Lester’s Yard.

It says the new plans will help it to provide “engaging, safe, and enriching play experiences” for children.

The proposal includes replacing a decaying timber building with a larger structure, featuring a social room, kitchen, therapy spaces, and outdoor areas for community events.

Douglas Council, the landowner, has expressed support for the project, with consent granted by the DBC Regeneration Committee.

The expansion will “future-proof” services for the next 20 years, offering dedicated spaces for play therapy, art therapy, and parent-child support groups.

The paddock will retain lawn and orchard areas for activities like picnics and sports, “free from dog mess”.

Landscaping plans involve relocating four apple trees and planting additional fruit trees to benefit ecology and provide seasonal fruit for children.
