Manx actor Joe Locke has been the latest guest on comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster’s podcast ‘Off Menu’.
The ‘Heartstopper’ star’s episode was launched today (September 11).
The podcast invites special guests into their ‘magical restaurant’ to each choose their favourite starter, main course, side dish, dessert and drink.
*SPOILER ALERT* we are about to ruin the element of surprise and tell you Joe’s favourite dishes and secrets.
Favourite Menu Choices
Joe spilled the beans and said he uses his celebrity status to get tables and exclusive restaurants by simply sending them a DM (direct message for the non gen z’s) on Instagram.
He also said he has a “fake email” which poses as his assistant ‘Lisa Fox’, but it is actually Joe – not only has his alter ego Lisa booked him restaurant bookings, but he also said he got a “free holiday” out of using the identity.
Joe’s drink of choice was a simple choice of an Aperol Spritz, his starter was a Pau Bhaji from Dishoom.
His dream main course is from an Italian American restaurant in New York – weirdly not CCG from the local chippy.
He opted for lasagne rolls – he said its the “nicest thing” he’s ever had in his life.
As a side choice he chose broccolini.
For dessert, Joe chose a very understated Marks and Spencer tiramisu.
‘Glad’ He Left The IOM
The Isle of Man also got a shout out, as Joe explained people don’t give a sh*t about his fame over here.
After being asked about how people in his home land now treat him, Joe said: “Here he comes, Billy Big B*llocks. People don’t give a sh*t, which is great.
“But then it’s almost like so the opposite that it’s almost embarrassing. Like getting recognised in the Isle of Man is just the worst thing. Yeah.”
He said: “Yeah. I mean, I’m really glad I’ve left, but like, I love going back. I feel like I’ve got a new appreciation for it now.”
Joe added: “I can go for two days and then leave, I enjoy it a bit more”.
No Michelin Star
One of the podcast hosts, James Acaster, mentioned that his girlfriend’s from Manchester and gets very annoyed that places, often places in London get Michelin stars a lot quicker than places outside of London.
He asked Joe if he found that as well when he is trying this Michelin star food.
Joe said: “There’s no one on the Isle of Man that deserves a Michelin star, no offence.”
Adding: “There’s some great food in the Isle of Man, but not good enough to get a Michelin star.”
“Maybe I’ve just not been to them. There’s a lot of fish. I’m not a big fish fan.”
