Douglas’ Mersey class lifeboat has been over in Fleetwood this week for a clean up.
The clean was needed as the boat is now permanently afloat so it needed cleaning and antifouling.
The passage and antifouling is undertaken by the volunteer crew under the expert eye of a RNLI Staff Coxswain.
This process will happen every six to 12 months going forwards.
Douglas said its area of operation is “always covered by our flank stations of Ramsey Rnli Lifeboat and Port St Mary Lifeboat ensuring the RNLI motto of Saving Lives at Sea is always maintained”.
Last week it was announced that Douglas will receive a Trent class all-weather lifeboat when its current boat is withdrawn from service later this year.
