Local darts player qualifies for PDC Q final

On Tuesday (January 9), Kirk Michael resident, Kevin Lane qualified for the final stages of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Qualifying School.

Over 800 players are taking part in the preliminary rounds, all hoping for a shot at a PDC tour card.

The well known local darts player is competing alongside big names such as Fallon Sherrock and Andy Hamilton.

UK rounds

Lane travelled to Milton Keynes with the help and support of Isle of Man Steam Packet and began his campaign on Monday (January 8).

After crashing out first round on day one in a close match against England’s Wayne Jones, Lane rallied day two and won through a field of 313 players to the last 8, automatically qualifying for the final.

Eight players qualify each day with the remaining 77 spots awarded through the order of merit and points accumulated over the three days.

He joins more big names tomorrow (January 11) as the four day final kicks off and the 128 strong field is made up with those players that lost their tour cards this year.

The Manx Utilities worker will battle it out to win one of 30 available tour cards and a coveted spot on the PDC Pro Tour.
