Looneys of Ramsey to close

A department store on the Isle of Man has announced it will cease trading.

Looneys of Ramsey has traded for the last 85-years.

In a statement, Looneys said:”We have taken the difficult decision to cease trading once we have finished our upcoming Sale.”

“We would like to thank our dedicated staff and all our customers for their loyalty and continued support throughout the years. Our Closing Down Sale starts Thursday 25th April with vastly discounted prices throughout the store.”

The Chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners Alby Oldham commented:“Looneys has been operating for the last 85 years and it is an iconic business, I am shocked and disappointed to hear the announcement this morning that they are to close.

I am sure that the decision to close has been very difficult heart wrenching for this family-owned business.

I wish the owners the very best for the future and I will be in contact with the Department for Enterprise to understand what assistance is available to help the staff.”
