The Joey Dunlop Foundation has been boosted by a Manx Lottery Trust grant to improve accessibility for guests staying for its accommodation on an iconic section of the TT course.
Braddan Bridge House provides five fully accessible self-contained apartments, available for short-term holidays or respite breaks for disabled people, together with their families, friends and carers. It has a range of specialist equipment to support guests, including hoists, profiling beds, air mattresses and shower commodes.
The grant of £2,857 has been used to replace a number of old and damaged window blinds throughout the apartments. It will also enable the installation of motorised blinds in hard-to-reach locations, so they can be operated remotely.
Meeting a need
David Christian, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, said: “Braddan Bridge House provides an important facility for disabled people and their families, enabling them to enjoy respite breaks in a welcoming and accessible environment.
“This project is a practical improvement that will help guests maintain greater independence during their stay, and we are pleased to support it through our grant programme.”
