Castletown Town Commissioners has announced that an agreement has been reached to appoint a contractor for Phase 2 of the School Hill redevelopment scheme.

Over 100 homes are planned for the area, with phase two making up 48, followed by a further 45 in phase three.

The authority said discussions with the government ensured preparations were in place for a timely start to the next phase of this key town regeneration project.

Chairman Tony Brown OBE, welcoming the progress, said: “I would like to thank the members of the design team for delivering a clear and informative briefing, which enabled the Board to make a prompt yet well-informed decision, which the Commissioners hope will result in the next phase of the redevelopment of this important housing Estate progressing at an early date.”

A further update will follow once government approvals are confirmed, including details of the chosen contractor and the anticipated start date.
