An Assistant Clinical Psychologist within Manx Care’s Community Wellbeing Service is recruiting participants for a research study which aims to improve accessibility to mental health services for men.
The goal of Ciara Whelan’s study is to understand what perceived barriers deter people who identify as male from accessing psychological therapies.
The study is focused on the Isle of Man, and how the services offered can be amended to address these barriers.

Ciara said: “If we are able to better understand what deters males from accessing psychological support, we can take a more targeted approach to updating our services.
“I hope we can use the results of this study to encourage more males to reach out for mental health support if/when required.”
Any male who is a resident of the island and aged over 18 can apply via the link here.
The questionnaire takes approximately four minutes, and no personal or identifiable information will be collected at any point.
This study has been reviewed and has received ethics clearance through the Isle of Man Research Ethics Board.
