A man accused of driving on a closed road during the TT has been cleared after prosecutors offered no evidence.
Alan Kermode, 61, of Ramsey, appeared before magistrates on Thursday having previously denied the charge.
It had been alleged that Mr Kermode had driven on a close road on the evening of May 29, that being the night an incident in the Sidecar session had been red flagged.
Prosecutor Sara-Jayne Dodge said the decision had been made as it was “not in the public interest” to pursue a prosecution and that Mr Kermode had made a “genuine mistake”,
Mr Kermode’s advocate Ian Kermode, said his client was “relieved” but that there were many issues of the case which he had intended to examine.
Mr Ian Kermode said he had sought answers over the road closure being extended in part of the course that evening and the lack of barriers being put in front of homes in the area.
He also criticised the “baffling” decision by the police to hold his client overnight when he was first arrested, saying it was “unnecessary and frankly disgraceful”.
Ms Dodge said given the length of time the TT has been held and Mr Alan Kermode has lived at his home, she did not consider the lack of a rope or barrier a failure by organisers.
Magistrates awarded Mr Kermode £1,500 plus VAT in defence costs and dismissed the case.
