A man who head butted a fellow drinker in Ramsey before fleeing across a pub roof has been fined by magistrates.
James Doe, 36, from Colchester, pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct on licensed premises at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday morning.
The court heard that Doe had been drinking in Bar Logo in Ramsey on Sunday June 30 when he got into an argument with another customer.
Doe was seen picking up a glass and emptying it before it was taken off him, he then walked up to the other man and head butted him which led to what prosecutors said was a “melee” which had to be broken up by bar staff and workers at a nearby takeaway.
By the time police arrived Doe fled into an alleyway before running across the roff of the Plough Inn onto the roof of Ravioli House after which he climbed down and was arrested by officers.
In a police interview he admitted the offence and said he was “disgusted” by his actions.
His advocate told magistrates that Doe, who is working in construction on the island, wanted to apologise for what he had done.
Magistrates told Doe hit had been a “particularly nasty incident” and fined him £900 and ordered him to pay court costs of £125.
