A man charged of being in possession of banned substance has been cleared after it was discovered it is not illegal.
Ryan Kneen, 33, of Douglas, was cleared after charges were withdrawn on Tuesday.
The court had previously heard he was found with the legal venlafaxine.
NHS England describes it as “from of a group of antidepressants called serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors, or SNRIs”.
Advocate Debbie Myerscough said the onus was on the Police to prove the substance was on the banned list, which they had not done.
She also noted that Mr Kneen had spent two days in custody as a result of the charge.
The court awarded costs to the defence totalling £175 plus VAT.
