Michael Manning, well-known former Manx Bard, will be the first Poet-in-Residence at this year’s St Maughold’s Week.
The week celebrates the heritage of the island’s patron saint.
St Maughold’s week starts on Saturday, July 26 and runs through to Sunday, August 3.

There will variety a of events, from a Garden Party, lectures, historic graveyard tour and a performance by Ny Fennee Harpists to Choral Evensong sung by the choir of St Peter’s, Onchan, on St Maughold’s Day (July 31).
There is also a special bi-lingual service to mark the 260th anniversary of the Manx Prayer Book and a mini-pilgrimage to St Maughold’s Well.
Michael has written a number of poems specially for the occasion and will be popping up during the week to recite them, as well as giving a Poetry Reading on July 31.
