Manx Mavericks Come Out on Top

Manx Mavericks have been crowned champions of the island’s first Netball Performance League.

The team wrapped up the six‑week competition with a 56–45 win over Celtic Coast Lightning at the NSC on Saturday.

The new league, which began in January and featured four sides, Mavericks, Mannin Magic, Celtic Coast Lightning and Vannin Vipers, was created to give the island’s top players regular, high‑level competition.

Mavericks’ final‑round victory, led by Player of the Match Zoe Kirkham, secured the inaugural trophy, crafted by local business Mooir Tashtey Designs.

Mannin Magic claimed second place after beating Vannin Vipers 49–36, with Chloe Schofield taking the evening’s other Player of the Match award.

Across the six rounds, all teams registered notable results, with Mavericks setting the early pace and Magic and Lightning pushing hard to stay in contention. Vipers also produced strong performances in the middle stages.

Weekly Player of the Match awards highlighted standout contributions throughout the league, recognising athletes including Jonny Hastie, Kate Doran, Nan Williams, Sara Collings, Becca Cooke, Adam Brammall, Ben Sinclair, Ashley Hall, Heather Parsons and Ellan Charmer.
