Manxies Excel in Chester Marathon

Many congratulations to all the competitors from the Isle of Man who were running in the Chester Marathon at the weekend.

It looks like there were some terrific performances to reward a lot of hard training.

The fastest of the locals was Paul Atherton, who was representing England in the Masters match against Wales, and finished in an excellent time of 2:36:55.

Next was Nick Bowden with a terrific run to well and truly crack the three-hour barrier with 2:53:49.

Third was Jonathan Pugh with 3:04:21, a little outside his London time earlier this year but still a fine run.

In fourth place with another superb performance was Dawn Atherton, who took more than five minutes off her personal best with a time of 3:06:11.

She finished in third place in the women’s 40 category, and her split times during the race were metronomic in their consistency.

She moves up from 18th to 16th on the all-time Isle of Man women’s ranking list for the Marathon.
