Max Walker has accomplished a lifelong dream of becoming a professional cyclist having been signed by EF Pro Cycling.
The 23-year-old from Douglas says that he is “so excited and grateful to EF for the opportunity”.
He said: “It’s taken a huge amount of support from numerous people, who I’d like to show my appreciation for, as without them, I wouldn’t be taking this next step in my career.”
Max was introduced to cycling at just three years old, and thanks Dot Tilbury’s renowned cycling league which ignited his “passion and love for cycling”.
He thanked Dot for “giving up her time to take us away to the UK to race at a young age – she is an absolute credit to the sport”.
Turning Pro
The proud Manxman is coached by Tom Barras, Olympic Gold Medalist Pete Kennaugh and Ben Williams.
Walker was “fortunate” to ride for Astana in 2024, and thanked Trinity Sports for its “continued belief” in him as a rider.
He said: “I’ll be forever grateful to the team, the staff and my teammates there for such a positive environment and great fun for four years.”
Max was second in the British national time trial championships this summer, and third in the corresponding road race a few days later.
Having already spent time with the team at a training camp at the start of the year, Walker is already well-versed in EF Pro Cycling culture.
“I’m super happy to be joining EF Education-EasyPost. The training camp was a great experience, with a lot of good riding and loads of fun.
“I’ve got former teammates on the squad and the support that I had at the camp was top-notch. I couldn’t have asked for anything more,” Walker said.
