Ramsey MHK Juan McGuinness has been appointed the new chair of the Public Services Commission.
The appointment by Chief Minister Chris Thomas was announced this afternoon (October 29).
Rob Mercer MLC will continue as Vice Chair.
McGuinness will also serve as Vice Chair of the Public Sector Pensions Authority by virtue of his position as Chair of the Public Services Commission, and Mercer will continue to serve as the employer representative on the Public Sector Pensions Authority.
Thomas said said: “I am grateful to both Mr McGuinness and Mr Mercer for their commitment to this important work.
“The Public Services Commission has wide-ranging responsibilities for the management and development of the public service, and its work is critical in supporting the Office of Human Resources to maintain an effective, well-managed and motivated workforce.”
McGuinness, who was elected an MHK for the first time last month, replaces Onchan MHK Rob Callister, who was previously the chair of the Public Services Commission.
Meanwhile, speculation is mounting that Thomas may announce a new ministerial position in the coming days.
