Meghan has an early-season of flyers

A number of athletes have been in action indoors in the UK over the last couple of weeks, and among them sprinter Meghan Pilley has been in great form.

Two weeks ago in Manchester Meghan ran a time of 7.92 seconds in her first 60 metres race, and followed that with 7.90 in her second race.

She then went in the 200 metres race where she ran a time of 26.36 seconds from the inside lane, where she found herself bashing elbows with the athlete in the next lane a few times.

Then last weekend Meghan travelled to Sheffield for the England Indoor Championships, where she ran 7.87 seconds in her 60 metres heat followed by 7.83 in the final.

That’s faster than her sister Bethan has run, so Meghan now has the family bragging rights for the 60 metres.

In the 200 metres she ran a time of 25.66 in the heat, which is her overall 200 metres PB and faster than she ran in the Island Games last year.

She followed that with 26.10 in the semi-final and 26.15 in the final in which she finished fifth – terrific results, especially as she was no doubt tiring after such a busy schedule.

Meghan has really kicked on over the past year and looks set for a really big summer season on the track in 2024.
