Methodist Church ‘Surprised’ at Hall Closure Comments

The Methodist Church in the Isle of Man says it is “surprised and disappointed” to hear the comments made about the closure of Ballafesson Hall.

The Ballafesson Community Club says it has been ‘left in a limbo” following the announcement but has chosen not to “run away” from the issue.

Volunteers believed they had a year – from June – to save the building from closure but it is understood it isnow being put up for sale at the end of the month.

The church says a decision was made to have a period of time for prayer, discussion and consultation with members of the chapel and community about its future.

It adds this took place over two years and, in March, a meeting was held, attended by some members of the hall committee, where it agreed to sell.

The Methodist Circuit says it has had “regular meetings” with the hall committee and has always been transparent about processes and timescales.
