Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover says Tynwald members were left “feeling caged in” during King Charles III’s visit to the island.
This was despite describing the day as an “absolute honour” and a rare moment of Manx history.
Glover said the King received a warm welcome in “glorious conditions” at engagements across the island, but raised concerns about restrictions placed on elected representatives inside Tynwald Court.
Members were required to remain in their seats after the King left the chamber to meet crowds outside, despite having already undergone security clearance to enter the building.
“We couldn’t move until his car had departed,” he said, adding that it felt “disrespectful” to those elected to represent the public.
He said he would have preferred to watch the King meeting residents rather than feeling confined.
Glover also joked that members would be “feeling caged in again next week” given the length of the July Order Paper.
