Manx Care has criticised claims made by an MHK during this week’s Tynwald sitting.
It said that Julie Edge comments about issues at Noble’s this weekend were “sweeping and factually incorrect”.
Ms Edge had said that there was knowledge in nursing circles that Noble’s hospital was possibly on a code red for staffing levels and that bank staff had been stopped by two individuals that had come in to look at efficiencies and effectiveness
Manx Care said that while there was a “code red” incident, this is a security issue, not one that relates to any other measures.
It said: “There was a “Code Red” incident at the hospital on 16 February which was dealt with according to hospital procedures and there was no further action necessary.
“With regard to nurses being put at risk due to staffing levels, this is an incorrect assertion as staffing levels over the weekend (15/16 February) never dropped below designated and agreed minimum safe staffing levels.
“This meant that no nurses or other staff were at risk due to a lack of staffing.
“Whilst Manx Care continues to look at the most appropriate and cost effective use of Bank staff, this is a mechanism which Manx Care uses when operational needs such as short notice sick leave, patient acuity or behaviours require them to do so.
“Manx Care remains committed to providing a safe level of care to both its staff and patients and continues to do so every 24/7 365 days of the year.”
