Mill and Swing Bridge added to registered list

Laxey Glen Flour Mill and Ramsey Swing Bridge have been added to the island’s list of registered buildings.

Registered Buildings are those buildings and structures identified on the Island as having special architectural or historical interest; the register also protects buildings against alteration or demolition.

Laxey Glen Flour Mill was first constructed in 1861 and has survived three fires.

The complex represents the largest flour mill constructed on the Isle of Man during the Victorian era.

The Swing Bridge was built by Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Company of Darlington in 1892, having been commissioned by Ramsey Town Commissioners.

It has been added due to its architectural interest.
