Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood has announced significant progress in making bus stops more accessible for mobility scooter and wheelchair users.
All Bus Vannin routes now feature a number of upgraded stops while a full list will be published on the Bus Vannin website from Monday, January 19, with the stops coming into use from February 2.
Dr Haywood said: “We’re pleased to see more accessible bus stops coming online across the network, making it easier and safer for everyone to travel independently.”
The move follows a successful trial on the Douglas Service 21 route.
Scooter users can now book a compatibility assessment at the Sea Terminal Welcome Centre. Bus Vannin staff will also host a public demonstration at the Bottleneck car park on Tuesday, January 27, from 10am.
She added: “This is just the start. More improvements are on the way.”
