MUA Hopeful of Appeal Success

Manx Utilities says it is hopeful a decision will be made on the planning application for treatment works in Peel by the end of November.

David Jones lodged an appeal against the project citing alleged impacts onto a development on his land and the lack of public consultation.

That appeal was heard last week by inspector Jennifer Vyse, who will make a recommendation to DEFA Minister Clare Barber ahead of the final decision being made.

The MUA said: “We are content that we could not have done any more to support a favourable outcome and look forward to seeing the Inspector’s report when it is made available.

“Exact timescales were not provided by the Inspector although we expect it to be complete by the end of November.”

If the appeal is thrown out then the MUA plans to get to work on Peel’s treatment works early in the new year.
