9-TEN Media Group wants to turn an empty shop on Wellington Street in Douglas into a bar.
The company has submitted plans to change the use of the ground-floor unit and install new glass doors at the front.
Richard Cotton from Soda Group Ltd, representing the applicant, said: “Turning this unused shop into a bar will bring life back to the building and add a welcoming place for people to meet in this busy area.”
The plans include fitting out the space with a kitchen, toilets, and a bar area.
The building, at 7-17 Wellington Street, has housed shops, restaurants, and a nightclub in the past.
The proposal highlights the benefits for the area, stating: “This will help the city centre by making good use of empty spaces and bringing more people into town.”
