New Chief People Officer Appointed

The government has appointed Grace Eames as its new Chief People Officer, taking responsibility for the working lives of nearly 8,000 public servants.

Ms Eames will lead the Office of Human Resources within the Cabinet Office and will play a central role in delivering the People Strategy 2026-2031, government’s plan to build a more engaged, skilled and inclusive public service.

With more than 30 years’ senior HR experience, she has worked across regulated, unionised and politically sensitive sectors, and most recently ran her own consultancy advising on workforce governance, organisational design and culture.

Grace said: “I am delighted to be joining at such an important time. There is real ambition within Government and a commitment to building a culture where colleagues feel valued and supported.

“I look forward to working with teams across government to turn that ambition into something people can feel every day.”

Cabinet Office Minister David Ashford MBE MHK said Ms Eames brought the experience and ethos needed to ensure Government remains a place where people can thrive in their work.

She will take up the role from June 1.
