The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service has been testing out its new Magirus 42 metre Turn Table Ladder (TL).
The new TL surpasses the previous maximum reach of its aerial appliance by 10 metres.
It’s not just about the impressive height but also about the enhanced capability and safety this appliance brings to both the firefighters and the Isle of Man community.
The Fire Service says that being able to reach higher buildings is crucial as island urban development grows vertically.

Instructor Sub/O Luke O’Reilly demonstrated some of the capabilities to the training team.

It will be based at Douglas Fire Station to serve the whole Island.
Fire Crews will spend the next couple of Months training and gaining familiarisation before the appliance becomes fully operational.
Rather you than me guys! A normal ladder is enough to give me the jitters.
