New Sexual Health Clinic Opens

The new Manx Integrated Sexual Health Clinic has formally opened its doors.

Based in Douglas, the clinic replaces the GUM Clinic which previously ran out of Noble’s Hospital.

The new centre incorporates a fully integrated sexual health service, providing a ‘one stop shop’ for a full range of contraception options, testing, management and treatment of all sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV, removing the need for the patient to attend numerous appointments held over different locations.

Modern

Amanda Dawson, Lead Nurse for Integrated Sexual Health said: “We are so pleased to announce that the new Manx Integrated Sexual Health Centre is now officially open.

“The new service is located on Kensington Road in Douglas and offers a spacious, bright modern facility which will improve patient care. Joining services together will make the patient journey more streamlined and efficient.

“Instead of attending two separate services at different appointments, everything is available in one location.|

Manx Care CEO Teresa Cope, who opened the clinic said it will “make a huge difference to patients, service users and staff”.

She added: “It is the result of a lot of hard work by some very dedicated colleagues. I’m delighted to be here today to see the final result; it’s fantastic! The centre is an incredible achievement for the Team, the Manx public and Manx Care.”

The dedicated, friendly team can be contacted on its usual number (01624) 650710 for advice or to book an appointment.
