Douglas City Council has opened nominations for its Community Awards, calling on residents to help identify the people who make a meaningful difference in the city.
The awards feature two categories: Community Champion, recognising an adult who has made a significant contribution to Douglas, and Young Hero, celebrating someone aged 15 or under who has had a positive impact on others.
Mayor Steven Crellin J.P. said the awards highlight those who give their “time, energy and compassion” to support neighbours, charities, sports teams and community groups, often without seeking recognition.
Last year’s Young Hero winner, Logan Connor, encouraged people to nominate someone deserving, saying small acts of kindness can “make a big difference to someone’s day”.
A panel chaired by the Mayor will select this year’s winners, who must live in Douglas, though nominations can be made by anyone on the island. The awards presentation will take place later this year.
The deadline is October 23.
